Rural Celebration and

Emigrant Festival at Byneset

23 - 25 June - 2000 , at Rye School and Community, Byneset

Byneset is located west of the city of Trondheim in Central Norway. The peninsula extends towards the west and is enciceled by the Gulos, Orkdal and Trondheim Fjords. Byneset has always been considered as the farming district of Trondheim. During this Rural Celebration and Emigrant Festival we have compiled a heritage program that will present our peninsula past and present.
Here at Byneset times were hard prior to 1900. Farming was the most important means of livelihood, had not provided sustenance for all, and several emigrated. Most of this emigrants went to the USA. Now when we are on the verge of celebrating the millennium, we want to invite all who have relatives or ancestors at Byneset to an authentic Emigrant Festival.
